Cost’s for a Funeral Service comprise three main categories;
1 The
Funeral Director's fee
This fee covers all the funeral personnel’s time in
receiving instructions from the family and attending to the
funeral arrangements, co-coordinating people's involvement
in the service, obtaining permission for the cremation from
the Medical Referee or arranging the burial plot with the
Sexton, completion of all necessary documentation, preparing
and effecting registration of the death and obtaining the
certified death certificate from the Registrar of Births Deaths
and Marriages, attendance and transfer of the deceased to
the Funeral Home, care of the deceased including embalming
preparation, dressing and casketing, use of the hearse on
the funeral service and conveying the casket to the cemetery
or crematorium, provision of funeral home facilities, provision
of staff and 24 hour service.
An average fee would be $3600. Fees
will vary depending on the time taken to arrange and conduct
the Funeral Service, viewings and the complexity of the arrangements.
2 The Casket
There is a wide selection of caskets offered as detailed in
these web pages (See under the heading What we Do –
CASKETS ) Costs range from a simple
casket at $700 to over $7000 for an elaborate casket.
3 Other
charges
These charges include the following items paid for by the
Funeral Home on behalf of the estate and itemized on the funeral
account:

A standard Funeral service including cremation fee and certificates will cost from $6900. A standard
Funeral service including burial in a new plot at Makara Cemetery and certificates will cost from
$8100 upwards. The final cost will depend on the choice
of casket and other variable costs listed in the ‘
other charges’ category above.
